Official Mobility Services in Masjid al-Haram: Golf Carts and the Wheelchair Option

The authorities responsible for Masjid al-Haram provide organized mobility options to help elderly pilgrims and people with mobility needs perform their rituals. Among the most notable options are golf carts, also referred to as electric carts, which operate in designated areas according to official regulations.

These services are official and completely separate from any private provider. They have their own booking and operating channels, and their schedules and availability are subject to the instructions of the regulating authorities and to the season.

Golf carts inside Masjid al-Haram are an official service with a dedicated booking channel managed by the authorities responsible for the Haram. They are not operated by AMAN or by any private rental company.

Availability, times, and prices are shown through the official channels at the time of request, and may change according to the season and crowd levels. For this reason, we do not list fixed prices or schedules here. When you are inside the Haram, you can also ask official guidance desks and organizers to direct you to the nearest service point.

Nusuk is the official platform for Hajj and Umrah, providing trusted information and services for pilgrims. For assistance and enquiries, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has also allocated the unified number 1966 to support pilgrims and provide immediate assistance around the clock.

These two channels are the primary official references for any information about services inside the Haram. We recommend checking them before relying on information shared informally.

The direct official platform for booking mobility carts inside the Two Holy Mosques is the Unified Mobility Service (خدمة تنقل الموحدة) run by the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques at carts.alharamain.gov.sa; the Authority also offers an official wheelchair-pusher request service. Nusuk and the unified number 1966 are general official channels for information and assistance — not the direct cart-booking channel.

If you cannot find a suitable time for the official golf carts, or if you prefer an independent mobility option to accompany you during your stay in Makkah within permitted areas, renting an electric or manual wheelchair can be a practical choice.

AMAN provides wheelchair rental in Makkah and Madinah through its app. Please note that using wheelchairs in some organized areas of the Haram is subject to the instructions of the responsible authorities, and that AMAN is a private service independent from the official Haram mobility services.

Plan early, especially during Ramadan and peak seasons. Save the unified number 1966 for assistance, agree on a clear meeting point with your family inside the Haram, and make sure your phone is charged.

If you are accompanying an elderly person, plan the route in and out before prayer times. Remember that availability across all services, whether official or private, is generally better when arrangements are made earlier.
